To the Washington Commanders organization, my coaches and teammates, and the great fans who comprise this dedicated community—
From the moment I walked inside the Ashburn facility, I knew it wasn’t simply a squad. This was a family. Today, I’m writing this open letter not as a farewell, but as a passionate expression of gratitude—an acknowledgement of everything you’ve invested in me over these formative years of my NFL career.
You embraced a young quarterback whose goals were bigger than his shoulders could support alone. You trusted in me when the stakes were high and the pressure was even greater. You recognized potential not only in my arm, but also in my spirit. I am eternally grateful for every ounce of belief, word of support, every applause from the stands or screen.
Thank you, Coach [Insert Coach Name], for believing in me, pushing me, and never settling for less than greatness. Thank you for choosing me, front office. You provided me with a platform to develop, learn, and become a leader. To my teammates, you are my brothers. We have been in the trenches together. I will cherish the friendships we’ve established both on and off the field for the rest of our lives. We celebrated successes, learnt from defeats, and got stronger along the way.
To the D.C. fans, words cannot express how much your enthusiasm, passion, and loyalty mean to me. You pack FedExField rain or shine, triumph or defeat. You wave the flags, sing my name, wear my jersey, and yell till your voices fade. I’ve seen tiny kids in the stands clutching signs, hoping to get a peek or a wave. I’ve signed footballs and hats, and each one means more to me than words can express.
You made me feel comfortable at the nation’s capital. This city, this franchise, has formed not only the quarterback I am today, but also the man I aspire to be. You have taught me to be resilient. You’ve taught me to be accountable. You’ve shown me that the love of a community can get you through even the most difficult times of self-doubt.
Every touchdown I’ve thrown, every fourth-quarter drive, every locker room speech has been dedicated to you. It was because of you.
As I look ahead, my goal remains the same: bring a championship to Washington. To restore joy, pride, and success back to this legendary franchise. To become the leader you deserve. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in me, lifting me up, and guiding me to become the man and player I am today. This is just the beginning.
With heartfelt gratitude and unwavering loyalty,
Jayden Daniels,
Quarterback for Washington Commanders.
