Auburn, Alabama — Auburn University is happy to announce that three standouts from the Auburn Tigers women’s basketball team — DeYona Gaston, Kaitlyn Duhon, and Mar’shaun Bostic — have been named to the renowned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team.

This accolade, which celebrates student-athletes for strong academic success in addition to their contributions on the court, exemplifies Auburn’s rising reputation for generating well-rounded leaders in collegiate athletics.

DeYona Gaston: Power and Perseverance.
DeYona Gaston, a senior forward and transfer standout, has made her presence known since arriving at Auburn. Gaston, who is well-known for her painting prowess and ability to dominate the boards, has also excelled in class. She majored in Human Development and Family Studies and succeeded academically while also maintaining a tough sporting schedule.

“Being named to the Academic All-District team is an honor,” Gaston told me. “I’ve always believed that being a student-athlete requires full commitment to both jobs. Auburn has provided me with the resources and support I need to succeed in both.

Kaitlyn Duhon: Tenacity on and off the court.

Kaitlyn Duhon, a sophomore guard recognized for her determination, rapid decision-making, and defensive tenacity, was also named Academic All-District. Off the court, Duhon is pursuing a degree in Biomedical Sciences, a rigorous academic path that mirrors her drive and commitment.

Whether she’s diving for a loose ball or acing a chemistry exam, Duhon represents Auburn’s athletic and academic purpose.

“Balancing basketball and pre-med is no joke,” Duhon admitted with a giggle. “But I love both, and I’m thankful for my coaches and professors who help me manage it all.”

Mar’shaun Bostic: Rising Star with Academic Excellence

Mar’shaun Bostic, a freshman guard, rounds out the trio and has rapidly established herself as a contributor on the court. Her explosive speed, court vision, and intensity have made her a player to watch in the SEC. At the same time, she’s already making an academic effect by studying Psychology with a goal of working in sports therapy.

“This award reminds me that I’m more than just an athlete,” Bostic told the crowd. “It pushes me to stay focused and keep working, in every area of my life.”

A culture of excellence.
Head Coach Johnnie Harris acknowledged her delight in her players’ accomplishments.

“These three young women exemplify what it means to be Auburn Tigers,” Harris told the audience. “They are dedicated, driven, and uphold our program with honesty. We constantly encourage our student-athletes to achieve in all aspects of life, and Kyah, Kaitlyn, and Mar’shaun are achieving exactly that.”

The CSC Academic All-District designation reflects not only individual achievement, but also a team culture that values personal development. It also makes all three players eligible for CSC Academic All-America accolades, which might be the next step in their already impressive careers.

As Auburn continues to lift the bar in the classroom and on the court, this honor sends a clear message: the Tigers aren’t simply developing winners, but future leaders.
