Morgantown, WV – West Virginia University continues to shine on and off the court, as three Mountaineers women’s basketball standouts — Kyah Watson, Kylee Blacksten, and Jordan Harrison — were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the university announced on Friday.
This distinguished award recognizes student-athletes who excel at both academics and athletics, demonstrating their commitment to balancing hard education with great athletic achievement. For Watson, Blacksten, and Harrison, this accolade reflects not just their basketball talent and grit, but also their unwavering dedication to academic greatness.

Kyah Watson, The Leader.
Kyah Watson, a crucial defensive presence and outspoken leader, has made an impact on the floor with her tireless hustle and smart instincts. She’s similarly impressive off the court, studying in Exercise Physiology and maintaining a good GPA while handling the demands of Big 12 basketball. Watson’s name has become synonymous with consistency, and this honor adds to her already impressive career.
“Being recognized like this means a lot,” Watson added. “Our coaches and academic staff push us to be our best in every area of life, and it’s rewarding to see that hard work pay off.”
Kylee Blacksten, a junior, is an academic standout. Kylee Blacksten has quietly dominated the classroom while making significant contributions as the Mountaineers’ stretch forward. Blacksten, a Business and Marketing major, has routinely been named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Her academic curiosity and will to excel have made her a standout student-athlete and role model for her peers.
“Balancing sports and school isn’t easy, but I’ve always believed that the skills we build in both arenas shape us as complete individuals,” Blacksten told me. “This honor feels like proof that it’s all worth it.”
Jordan Harrison, The Rising Star
Jordan Harrison, one of the program’s most promising young players, rose to prominence with her court vision and playmaking ability. As a rookie guard, she soon acquired a reputation as a tough opponent. In the classroom, she has taken a similarly determined approach, pursuing a degree in psychology. Her selection to the Academic All-District team is a solid indication that she is destined for success — in more ways than one.

“This is only the beginning,” Harrison stated. “I want to continue excelling in school and basketball, and to represent WVU at the highest level.”
A program that prioritizes excellence.
Mark Kellogg, the Mountaineers’ head coach, lauded the trio, emphasizing the program’s responsibility culture and overall improvement. “We are really proud of Kyah, Kylee, and Jordan. They exemplify what it means to be a student athlete. Every day, they set an example for others.
The CSC Academic All-District honor is a noteworthy accomplishment, and it also qualifies the three athletes for CSC Academic All-America consideration, which may be another feather in the crown for a Mountaineers team dedicated to excellence on all fronts.
