Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing reported today, in a solemn news that echoed across the motocross world, that their emerging star, Liam Everts, has been diagnosed with a significant soft-tissue damage to his knee and hamstring. The ailment, discovered following rigorous medical scans this morning, will sideline the brilliant 19-year-old for the rest of the 2025 MX2 season.
“A Silent Injury, a Sudden Halt”
Jochem van den Hoek, team principal, addressed the media during the team’s workshop in Belgium.
“We obtained our comprehensive MRI results today. Injuries, like as inflammation and tears, can cause diesel to miss training without warning. Nothing catastrophic, but enough to necessitate complete rest and a lengthy recovery period. In short, Liam will be sidelined for months.
Van den Hoek was visibly emotional and paused softly:
“Liam has been pushing hard since the winter. He is the epitome of work ethic and resilience. But the body is now conveying a distinct message. “We must listen.”
Everts’ Meteoric Rise—Now Cut Short
Born into a great motocross family, Liam is the son of seven-time world champion Stefan Everts, and he has quickly distinguished himself with brave riding and a solid understanding of MX2 competition. This season, expectations skyrocketed: podium finishes, championship contention, and a growing fanbase.
But during a recent round in Catalunya, Everts began to feel severe pain. He initially dealt with the discomfort, but following podiums and intensive training sessions, the injury worsened. Teammates recall him limping after the race and retreating during debriefs. Despite this, he fought to begin the next round in Germany, sacrificing performance to avoid missing any opportunities.
Team and community rally behind him.
Everyone, from crew chiefs and mechanics to teammates and supporters, is supporting Liam. His father, Stefan, arrived in Belgium shortly after the news broke.
“Liam is as tough as nails.” But he is still my son. For the time being, the focus is on recovery, as advised by professionals and supported by family.
Social media exploded with #ComeBackLiam trending among motocross fans, with words like “He’ll be back stronger” and “Champions rest, not retire” echoing trackside and online. MXGP great Jeffrey Herlings and others have written personal messages of encouragement.
The Road to Recovery
Dr. Laura McCoy, a UK-based soft-tissue specialist known for rehabbing elite athletes, has already joined the team from Graceville Rehab Clinic. A personalized recovery program is in place, including rest, regulated physiotherapy, anti-inflammatory therapies, and a gradual return to conditioning.
Van den Hoek highlighted the goal:
“This is not a sprint. It is a marathon. We are taking every precaution. “Ideally, Liam will return for the final rounds and be in peak condition for 2026.”
A Season Interrupted and Not Defined
As the MX2 paddock moves forward, the absence of Everts creates a gap, both competitively and culturally. He’s more than just a threat; he’s a captivating figure who connects with fans, encourages teammates, and pushes performance limits.
Van Den Hoek:
“Yes, this hits hard. Our goals shift. But Liam remains our flagship—a rider with heart, pedigree, and purpose. We are as committed to the young guy as we are to the champion he is becoming.”
