An Open Letter from Mick Jagger to the Rolling Stones, Keith Richards, our fans, and the entire rock and roll community
To My Brothers, Our Fans, and the Rock & Roll Family:
As I sit down to write this, I am flooded with gratitude, nostalgia, and deep appreciation for the great trip we’ve shared. It’s impossible to express how much this band, this music, and everyone of you have meant to me throughout my life.
To the Rolling Stones, we’ve been through it all. From the early days of playing minor clubs to shaking the very foundations of stadiums all across the world, we created something no one could have predicted. We stood together through the highs and lows, triumphs and hardships, motivated by an unshakeable relationship and a never-ending passion for music.
Keith Richards—my brother in arms, companion in crime, and kindred spirit. We’ve lived the rock & roll dream together for decades, through riffs, rebellious songs, and moments that defined generations. We’ve had our disagreements, wild nights, and legendary moments, but there’s always been respect, love, and a connection that words can’t really express. You are a legend, my friend, and I would not have wanted to accomplish this with anybody else.
The Rolling Stones rely on their followers to keep them going. You’ve yelled with us, danced with us, and passed our music down through generations. Your enthusiasm, love, and everlasting support—none of this would be possible without you. Every time we stepped onto that platform, it was for you. And every time we saw you singing along, completely immersed in the song, we realised we were a part of something greater than ourselves.
To the entire Rock & Roll community, thank you for welcoming, challenging, and inspiring us. This music, this way of life, has brought us all together in ways that transcend time. The spirit of rock & roll lives on because of everyone of you, and I am eternally glad to be a part of that tale.
As we continue on this road, please know that my heart is full of love for every note we’ve played, stage we’ve stepped on, and soul we’ve touched. This is not just my trip; it is ours.
With love and thanks.
Mick Jagger
