Another member of the Brown family will appreciate incoming freshman Vernell Brown III this season.

The Brown family tradition continues, as does their representation of the Florida Gators. Safety Vincent Brown Jr. committed to the Gators on Gators. He made the announcement on his personal social media platforms. He will be the preferred walk-on. With his acquisition, the Brown family will now have seven members who have played for the Gators.

He is the older cousin of Vernell Brown III, an incoming freshman wide receiver. Both guys are enrolling at UF this month and will reunite as teammates after playing at Wildwood. His father, Vincent Brown Sr., played running back for the Gators under Urban Meyer. Brown Sr. was a member of Florida’s National Championship-winning team in 2008.

Brown Sr. also coached Brown Jr. during his high school years at Wildwood.

Brown is coming from Southeastern University, an NAIA school in Lakeland, Florida. He played there for two seasons, appearing in 19 games. He recorded 30 total tackles and broke up nine passes. In 2024, he was selected to the Second Team All-Sun Conference.

Brown’s father, uncle (Vernell Jr.), grandfather (Vernell Sr.), and two great uncles (Charlie and Johnell Brown) all played football at the University of Florida.

Vernell Brown III is one of the top Gators recruits for the 2025 class. According to 247 Sports, he is a four-star recruit and the No. 6 wide receiver in his recruiting class.
