“Becoming Led Zeppelin,” the first authorized documentary chronicling the legendary rock band’s origins and meteoric rise, is set to premiere in IMAX theaters on February 7, 2025.
Directed by Bernard MacMahon, the film offers an intimate portrayal of Led Zeppelin’s journey, featuring new interviews with surviving members Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones. Notably, it includes a previously unheard interview with the late drummer John Bonham, providing fans with rare insights into the band’s dynamics.
The documentary showcases unearthed material from the members’ personal archives and previously unseen footage from their 1969 concerts at the Atlanta Pop Festival, Fillmore West, and Texas Pop Festival. Writer-producer Allison McGourty highlighted the meticulous effort involved, stating, “We spent five years flying back and forth across the Atlantic scouring attics and basements in pursuit of rare and unseen film footage, photographs, and music recordings.”
While the film is slated for an IMAX release, there is currently no official confirmation of its availability on Netflix. Fans eager to delve into the band’s history should mark their calendars for the February theatrical release.
