An Open Letter from Bryson Donelson.
To my Fresno State Bulldogs teammates, coaches, fans, and the entire Bulldogs community:
As I reflect on the journey that has taken me here, I am filled with appreciation. Football has given me many gifts, but none more valuable than the family I discovered at Fresno State. From the moment I arrived on campus, I was welcomed not only as a player, but also as a young man with aspirations, talent, and a story still to be written.
To my teammates, you are more than brothers; you are family. Every practice, late-night film session, and battle we fought on the field created bonds that I will cherish for the rest of my life. You encouraged me to be better, to expect more from myself, and to meet the difficulties that came my way. Without you, I would not be the player—or person—that I am today.
I am deeply grateful to the coaching crew. You noticed something in me and offered me a platform to grow. You never allowed me to settle for less than my best, and you instilled in me the discipline, perseverance, and belief that will serve me well beyond sports. Your leadership went beyond X’s and O’s; it taught me about character, tenacity, and accountability.
Bulldog fans, you are the lifeblood of this program. Your enthusiasm fills Valley Children’s Stadium and reverberates throughout the Central Valley. Whether in victory or defeat, your voices propelled us ahead. I’ll never forget how you showed up for us, come rain or shine, at home or away. Performing in front of you has been one of the biggest honors of my life.
And thank you to the Bulldog community for providing an atmosphere in which I could thrive—not only as an athlete, but also as a student, leader, and young man. Your unfailing support and belief have helped me get through the most difficult times. Every handshake, every word of encouragement, every nod of respect—it was all important. Everything made a difference.
I stand here today knowing that none of this was accomplished alone. My journey is based on the foundation you all helped lay. The love, guidance, and support I received from this group changed not only my job but also my personality.
being I look ahead to the future, I am filled with pride being a Bulldog. No matter where this game leads me, I will always represent Fresno State with pride, humility, and gratitude.
