Foster, an 18-year-old redshirt freshman, was shot and killed on May 28, 2025, in his hometown of Greenville, Mississippi. The incident has had a profound impact on the Baylor community, causing Rhoades and Aranda to issue a joint statement expressing their sympathies and commitment to assisting Foster’s family and teammates.
“We are heartbroken by Alex’s death,” Rhoades said. “Our priority is to provide support to his family and our student-athletes during this difficult time.” Coach Aranda and I am dedicated to honoring Alex’s legacy and providing our squad with the assistance it needs to deal with this tragedy.”
