Netflix has officially announced the upcoming release of “Come Out and Play: The Story of The Offspring,” a comprehensive documentary chronicling the 40-year journey of the iconic punk rock band, The Offspring. Directed by Alex Carmichael, the film is scheduled to premiere in March 2025.
Formed in 1984 in Garden Grove, California, The Offspring rose to prominence in the mid-1990s with their breakthrough album “Smash,” which became one of the best-selling independent records of all time. The documentary promises to offer fans and newcomers alike an in-depth exploration of the band’s influential rise to fame, their impact on the punk rock scene, and their legacy in shaping modern music.
“Come Out and Play” will feature rare archival footage, exclusive interviews with band members Dexter Holland, Noodles, and other key figures in their journey, as well as commentary from prominent artists influenced by their music. Set to premiere on November 8, 2023, this four-part series, directed by Joe Pearlman, will delve into Williams’ life, struggles, relationships, and career, offering an intimate look at the celebrated artist’s journey.
