Kansas State football head coach Chris Klieman didn’t have to look far to find his new offensive coordinator. Klieman announced Monday that he has promoted from within, naming Colin Klein as the team’s new offensive coordinator. Klein, who has been with the Wildcats as quarterbacks coach since 2018, will now take on a larger role in shaping the offensive strategy for the 2025 season.
Klein, a former Kansas State quarterback, has earned a strong reputation for his work developing quarterbacks and his ability to adapt the offense to fit the strengths of the players. Under his guidance, Kansas State’s offense has seen significant growth, particularly in the development of Will Howard, who had a standout season in 2024.
Coach Klieman expressed confidence in Klein’s leadership, saying, “Colin has been an integral part of our coaching staff, and we are excited to see him take on this new responsibility. His understanding of our program, his connection with the players, and his innovative approach to offense will be invaluable as we continue to build on our success.”
Klein’s promotion comes after former offensive coordinator, Courtney Messingham, left the program for a different opportunity. The Wildcats are looking forward to the new chapter under Klein’s leadership, with hopes of continuing to build a high-powered offense while maintaining the strong defensive identity the team is known
for.
