An Open Letter From Jerry Only
To my beloved Misfits family, our amazing fans, and the entire entertainment community,
As I sit down to write this, I am flooded with gratitude, humility, and a great sense of pride. It’s not often that one gets to reflect on a lifetime of music, rebellion, and connection, but today I feel compelled to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been a part of this great journey.
To my bandmates and comrades in arms, the Misfits have never simply been a band. We are a force, a family, and a tribute to the power of imagination and uniqueness. We defied expectations, built a legacy that broke down borders, and established a sound that shook the foundations of the music industry. We converted our passion into a movement, which would not have been possible without the blood, sweat, and unwavering dedication we put into every note, song, and performance. You are my lifetime allies, and I am eternally grateful for the wars we have fought and the victories we have achieved.
To the fans: The Misfits rely on you to survive. You were there from the beginning, when we emerged from the shadows with our distinct sound and trademark skull iconography. You did more than just listen; you embraced, championed, and became an integral part of who we are. Your passion, undying commitment, and readiness to scream every word of every song back at us have been the best gift we could have received. You have painted our Fiend Skull on innumerable walls, tattoos, and hearts, and you have passed down our music through generations. You’ve demonstrated what it actually means to inspire and be inspired, and for that, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
To the entertainment community: You have created a stage, both literally and metaphorically, for our music and message to flourish. Your belief in the Misfits, despite our rebellious character and unique approach, has been the foundation of our success. From producers and promoters to venues and media outlets, you believed in us and helped create our journey. I am eternally thankful for your encouragement and the opportunity you’ve provided for us to amplify our voices and reach parts of the world we never imagined possible.
This year, as we continue to push the limits, it is apparent than ever that the Misfits are more than simply a chapter in music history; we are a monument to the strength of resilience, individualism, and unity. You, our fans, have demonstrated that music can transcend time, fear, and doubt. Every day, you remind me why I picked up a bass guitar so many years ago and opted to explore the unknown.
As we look to the future, I pledge that the Misfits will continue to make honest, unapologetic, and heart-pounding music for as long as we can. We are fuelled by your energy and motivated by your affection. Together, we are unstoppable.
