Amazon Prime Video has launched a four-part documentary series named “Earnhardt,” which will premiere in 2025. This series seeks to provide an in-depth and fascinating look into the life and legacy of NASCAR superstar Dale Earnhardt Sr., giving fans unprecedented access to his personal and professional career.
Imagine Documentaries, NASCAR Studios, and Everyone Else collaborated on the documentary, which was produced in partnership with Dirty Mo Media, the media firm formed by Dale Earnhardt Jr. The production is executive produced by Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Sara Bernstein, and Justin Wilkes of Imagine Entertainment; Matt Summers and Tim Clark of NASCAR Studios; and TJ Martin, Dan Lindsay, and Tony Mayhoff.
According to a press release from The Athletic’s Jeff Gluck, the series promises to be “a profound, revealing, and definitive account of a historic American family.” It will look at Earnhardt Sr.’s journey from working-class roots to becoming a seven-time NASCAR Cup Series winner and cultural icon. The documentary will also look at the Earnhardt family relationships, illustrating how racing has connected generations while offering its own set of obstacles.
This news coincides with a growing interest in motorsport documentaries. Earlier in January 2024, Netflix launched “NASCAR: Full Speed,” a five-part docuseries that gave viewers an inside look at NASCAR.
The “Earnhardt” series is expected to provide fans with unprecedented insights into Dale Earnhardt Sr.’s life, both on and off the track, while also commemorating his long-lasting impact on NASCAR and American society.
