Netflix is set to release a documentary series focusing on the 2024 Southeastern Conference (SEC) college football season, aiming to provide an unfiltered look at the conference’s coaches and players. The series is scheduled for release in the summer of 2025.
However, several prominent SEC coaches have declined to participate in the project. Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian, along with Georgia’s Kirby Smart, Ole Miss’ Lane Kiffin, Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer, and Oklahoma’s Brent Venables, have chosen not to be involved. This decision leaves the series without behind-the-scenes access to some of the conference’s most influential figures.
The documentary series is being produced by the same team behind Netflix’s successful “Drive to Survive” series, which offered an inside look at Formula 1 racing. The SEC series aims to capture the intensity and drama of college football’s most dominant conference, especially with the recent additions of Texas and Oklahoma, which have heightened the competition within the SEC.
Despite the absence of these key coaches, the series is expected to provide valuable insights into the SEC’s 2024 season, featuring exclusive access to teams and matchups throughout the year. Fans can anticipate a comprehensive and engaging portrayal of the conference’s dynamics, even without the participation of some of its most prominent figures.
