Jaxson Dart, a standout quarterback from Utah, transferred from the University of Southern California (USC) to the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in early 2022. His arrival was met with high expectations, and over three seasons with the Ole Miss Rebels, Dart not only met but exceeded them, leaving an indelible mark on the program and the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

 

Early Career and Transfer to Ole Miss

 

Dart began his collegiate career at USC, where he showcased his potential as a dynamic quarterback. In 2021, he made a memorable debut against Washington State, throwing for 391 yards and four touchdowns, setting a USC record for the most passing yards by a quarterback in their debut.

 

Following the 2021 season and a coaching change at USC, Dart entered the NCAA transfer portal. In January 2022, he enrolled at Ole Miss, where he quickly became the primary starting quarterback under head coach Lane Kiffin.

During his tenure at Ole Miss, Dart’s performance was nothing short of exceptional. He set multiple school records, including surpassing Eli Manning’s career passing yards with a total of 10,213. In the 2024 season, he achieved career highs with 3,875 passing yards and 25 touchdowns, contributing significantly to the Rebels’ 9-3 record.

 

In his final collegiate game, the Gator Bowl against Duke on January 2, 2025, Dart further solidified his legacy. He broke Chad Kelly’s single-season records for passing yards and total offense, leading the Rebels to a commanding 52-20 victory.

 

Decision to Enter the NFL Draft

 

After the Gator Bowl, Dart announced his intention to declare for the NFL Draft. He expressed gratitude for his time at Ole Miss and excitement for the future. While he isn’t projected to be among the top five quarterbacks in the draft, his record-breaking college career positions him as a strong contender among the next tier of prospects.
