In a heartfelt announcement on January 12, 2025, Texas Longhorns running back Jaydon Blue declared his intention to forgo his senior season and enter the 2025 NFL Draft. This decision came shortly after Texas’ 28-14 loss to Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl, which ended their College Football Playoff run.

Blue’s journey with the Longhorns has been marked by resilience and growth. Despite a challenging start to the season, including early fumbling issues, he emerged as a key offensive player. He concluded the season with 730 rushing yards, eight rushing touchdowns, and added 368 receiving yards with six touchdown receptions. Notably, Blue delivered standout performances in the playoffs, including a two-touchdown game against Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl.

In his announcement, Blue expressed deep gratitude to his teammates, coaches, and Longhorn Nation, stating, “I’ve been surrounded by incredible teammates, coaches, and staff who pushed me to be the best version of myself both on and off the field.”

Blue’s departure, along with that of fellow teammates Kelvin Banks Jr. and Hayden Conner, who also declared for the NFL Draft, signifies a significant transition for the Longhorns’ offense. As Blue embarks on his professional journey, he leaves behind a legacy of determination and excellence that will be remembered by Texas fans and the broader college football community.
