NME announcement Inhaler singer Elijah Hewson: ‘I’m 25 now – I’m getting old’………

In a candid reflection on his milestone 25th birthday, Elijah Hewson, frontman of the Irish rock band Inhaler, shared insights into his personal and professional journey. Speaking to The Independent, Hewson humorously remarked, “I’m 25 now – I’m getting old,” highlighting the introspection that comes with reaching a quarter-century.

This milestone coincides with the release of Inhaler’s third studio album, “Open Wide,” which debuted on February 7, 2025. The album has garnered favorable reviews and achieved significant chart success, securing the number two spot on the UK Official Albums Chart and marking the band’s third consecutive top ten entry. In their native Ireland, “Open Wide” claimed the number one position, underscoring the band’s growing prominence in the music scene.

Reflecting on the album’s themes, Hewson described “Open Wide” as a manifestation of his “quarter-life crisis,” suggesting a deeper, more personal exploration in the band’s music. The album’s production, helmed by renowned producer Kid Harpoon, has been praised for its cohesive sound and lyrical depth.

Inhaler, formed in Dublin in 2012, comprises Elijah Hewson (vocals and guitar), Robert Keating (bass), Josh Jenkinson (guitar), and Ryan McMahon (drums). Over the years, the band has drawn inspiration from iconic groups such as The Stone Roses, Joy Division, and Oasis, blending these influences into their unique sound. Their previous albums, “It Won’t Always Be Like This” (2021) and “Cuts & Bruises” (2023), also received critical acclaim and solidified their reputation as a formidable force in modern rock music.

As the son of U2’s Bono, Hewson has often addressed the expectations and assumptions surrounding his lineage. In previous interviews, he emphasized the band’s commitment to forging their own path, stating that they were aware of the “expectation we would be handed things” but chose to earn their success through dedication and hard work. This ethos is evident in their relentless touring schedule and the authentic connection they maintain with their growing fanbase.

“Open Wide” is available now on all major streaming platforms, and Inhaler is set to embark on a worldwide tour later this year, bringing their dynamic live performances to audiences across the globe.
