Freshman Wide coach Jamar Browder Impresses Veterans in Spring

ANN ARBOR, MI — March 20, 2025 — In the opening session of Michigan Wolverines football’s 2025 spring practices, freshman wide receiver Jamar Browder quickly made his mark, drawing praise from veteran teammates. Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 208 pounds, Browder showcased his athleticism with a leaping catch, high-pointing the football to secure the grab.

Fifth-year EDGE TJ Guy remarked, “Jamar Browder made a catch yesterday. I was like damn, that’s gonna look good.” Offensive captain Max Bredeson also noted, “Yeah, he made a play. One of the jumps — got a high one. It was a pretty cool play to see a freshman first day go do something.”

The coaching staff’s emphasis on recruiting taller wide receivers is evident, with Browder’s size addressing the need for a dominant downfield presence. Head coach Sherrone Moore commented on this strategy, stating that having taller receivers provides quarterbacks with a larger margin for error, making throws to 6-foot-6 targets different from those to 5-foot-11 receivers. He added that Browder, though under-recruited, is an elite player.
