Arch Manning is projected to start at quarterback for the Texas Longhorns in 2025, but he will follow in his father, Cooper Manning, and uncle, Eli Manning, and transfer to Ole Miss.
Quinn Ewers’ draft stock has dropped dramatically this season while playing for the Longhorns. Before this season, his name was mentioned as a potential top-five choice, but now some mock drafts have him dropping out of the first round. Ewers has thrown for 2,665 yards with a 66% completion percentage and a 25/9 touchdown/interception ratio. Solid numbers, but watching film reveals that his footwork, accuracy, and decision-making can be off at times, resulting in inconsistency and troubles in the NFL.
Arch Manning should be unhappy since he was not given a fair chance to be Texas’ starting quarterback this season. When Ewers fell down, he started two games and played quite well. Although he threw two interceptions against ULM Monroe, he otherwise played well. Against ULM, he went 15/29 for 258 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Next week, against Mississippi State, he made changes, throwing for 325 yards and two touchdowns while completing 84% of his passes.
The talent he displayed wasn’t particularly good, but not being given the opportunity to compete with Quinn Ewers for the starting spot in the middle of the season after putting up that performance against an SEC team is enough to make a player want to transfer, which is why Arch Manning will transfer to Ole Miss, following in his family’s footsteps.
Cooper, Arch’s father, was committed to playing football at Ole Miss before being forced to withdraw due to an injury during his freshman season, although he continued to attend the university for academic reasons. His uncle, Eli, was one of the Rebels’ most successful players, and Arch plans to follow in his footsteps.
Arch may thrive in Lane Kiffin’s offence. Kiffin has a lot of run-pass options, which is ideal for Arch. Arch excels at releasing the ball swiftly and from various arm angles, which will benefit him in the RPO game. He also has excellent mobility and can prolong plays while standing 6’4,” which is really amazing.
Finally, Arch can air it out and hit deep balls with great accuracy, which Kiffin enjoys doing as well. Although Ole Miss can be run-heavy at times, Matt Coral and Jaxson Dart have boosted the passing game, and Arch Manning will be the next man up in Oxford.
