Darren Lockyer exposes ‘major’ issue for the Broncos as Adam Reynolds contract call looms
According to Broncos director Darren Lockyer, Adam Reynolds’ health is “critical” to the team’s decision to extend his contract for the 2026 season and beyond.
Reynolds is currently unsigned for the upcoming season, but has expressed interest in continuing to play for another two years.
It is thought that at least two rival Sydney clubs are keeping an eye on his contract situation, despite his intention to remain at Red Hill.
Reynolds’ injury history is well documented, with a chronic knee condition being the primary reason Souths opted to let the premiership-winning playmaker depart in 2021.
During his first three seasons with the Broncos, he appeared in 56 of 81 possible games. During that time, he led Brisbane to the 2023 grand final and came within a whisker of winning the championship.
With Ezra Mam still suspended and Ben Hunt on the roster for next season, the Broncos and Reynolds will have to make a significant decision.
