Ridley Scott Set Aside Bee Gees Biopic Over Paramount Deal Issues: ‘They Didn’t Like My Deal. I’m Expensive, but I’m F—ing Good’

Renowned director Ridley Scott has paused his anticipated Bee Gees biopic due to contractual disagreements with Paramount Pictures. In a candid interview with GQ, Scott revealed that after assembling the script and cast, the studio altered the terms of their agreement. He stated, “The deal—the studio changed the goalposts. I said, ‘You can’t do that.’ They insisted. I said, ‘Well, I’m going to warn you, I will walk, because I will go on to the next movie.’ They didn’t believe me, and I did.”

Despite the setback, Scott remains optimistic about resolving the issues and anticipates that the project will proceed later this year. He commented, “I was being asked to go too far. And I said, ‘No. … ‘I’ll move on.’ I’m expensive, but I’m fucking … .”

The biopic aims to explore the Bee Gees’ journey from their working-class roots to global fame, delving into the dynamics among the Gibb brothers and the personal tragedies they faced, including the loss of their brother Andy. Barry Gibb, the sole surviving member, is set to executive produce the film.

In the interim, Scott has shifted focus to his upcoming post-apocalyptic thriller, “The Dog Stars,” scheduled to begin filming in April.
