Dear Gotham FC, NWSL Fans, and the Entire Women’s Soccer Community:

As I reflect on this extraordinary chapter of my journey, my heart is flooded with feeling – a profound, overwhelming sense of appreciation. This is more than just a letter; it’s a love letter to the club, the supporters, and the league that welcomed me and shaped me into the player and person I am now.

When I arrived at Gotham FC, I discovered a culture of endurance, ambition, and heart. From the moment I put on the crest, I felt the weight of a legacy being formed – one of grit, empowerment, and excellence. I realized I wasn’t just joining a squad; I was becoming a part of something bigger – a movement motivated by passion and purpose both on and off the field.

Thank you to everyone in the Gotham FC organization. Thank you for believing in me, investing in my development, and providing an environment in which I could thrive. From the front office to the coaching staff, from the trainers to the operations team, each of you helped me show up every day ready to give my all. You made sure I was seen, supported, and empowered as a human being, not just an athlete.

To my teammates, thank you for being my sisters, competitors, and biggest motivators. We completed every tackle, goal, and huddle together. Through sweat, losses, successes, and many travel days, we evolved into more than just a team. We became a family. And for that, I am quite pleased and grateful.

What can I say to the fans? You are the heart of this club. Whether it was a filled stadium beneath the lights at Red Bull Arena, a young fan waiting for an autograph after the game, or a meaningful post on social media, I sensed your energy, enthusiasm, and love. You made me feel seen. You made me feel like I was playing for more than just a win – for hope, motivation, and change.

And to the entire NWSL community — players, staff, fans, and activists — thank you for creating something meaningful. Something that represents progression, strength, and equality. Being a member of this league and witnessing its growth and advancement year after year has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. It is more than simply a platform; it is a pledge to the future generation that their aspirations are real and achievable.

As this chapter ends and a new one begins, I carry Gotham FC and the NWSL with me – in my heart, on the field, and in my tale. I’m leaving with appreciation, not regret. With love, not loss. And with pride, knowing that once you’ve joined Gotham, you’ll always be a part of it.

With all my love and gratitude,
Rose Lavelle
