In an unprecedented move in NCAA women’s basketball, Texas Tech’s star guard, Kilah Freelon, has issued an open letter following his suspension for two games due to a violation of team rules. The Texas Tech Lady Raiders, who are gearing up for an important part of their season, are now left without one of their top performers for two crucial games. Freelon, who has been integral to the team’s recent success, took to social media and public platforms to address the situation, offering a heartfelt message to the fans and the entire Texas Tech community.

An Open Letter from Kilah Freelon:

Dear Texas Tech Lady Raiders Fans and the Texas Tech University Community,

First and foremost, I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who has supported me, my teammates, and this incredible program throughout the season. You all are the heart and soul of our team, and I feel blessed every day to represent this university and its amazing basketball community.

I am writing this letter to address the recent news regarding my suspension from two upcoming games, a decision made by the NCAA. Let me begin by saying that I take full responsibility for my actions, and I acknowledge the mistake that led to this situation. While I deeply regret the consequences of my actions, I am committed to learning from this experience and ensuring that it never happens again.

I understand the disappointment that this news may cause. I know how much our fans look forward to seeing us compete, and I share in that disappointment. But please know that this is a temporary setback. I will use this time to reflect, grow, and prepare to return to the court stronger and more focused than ever.

My suspension doesn’t change my commitment to this team or to you, the Texas Tech community. I will continue to give my all, both on and off the court, to help lead this team to success. I remain dedicated to being a positive role model, not just for my teammates but for all of you who cheer us on every game. I owe it to all of you to set a better example moving forward.

To my coaches, teammates, and the entire Texas Tech Athletics Department, thank you for your unwavering support during this time. I’m sorry for letting you down, and I promise to do everything I can to make things right. We have a bright future ahead of us, and I will not allow this to derail the progress we’ve made.

Finally, to the fans of the Lady Raiders: I ask for your understanding and continued support. I know this team is capable of great things, and I believe in us more than ever. Our journey isn’t just about individual players, but about the collective strength we have as a team and community. I will be back soon, ready to continue fighting for a championship, and I can’t wait to be out there with all of you cheering us on.

Thank you for everything. This is just a moment in time, and we will move forward stronger as a result.

With gratitude and determination,

Kilah Freelon

The suspension is part of the NCAA’s broader effort to ensure that student-athletes adhere to the rules and maintain the highest standards of conduct, on and off the court. Texas Tech University has fully supported Freelon’s decision to take responsibility for his actions, and the community remains behind him as he takes the necessary steps to grow from this experience.

What’s Next for the Lady Raiders

The Lady Raiders will face off against conference rivals in the next two games without Freelon. However, with a strong bench and several standout players, including forward Tiana Brown and guard Madison Scott, the team is prepared to fight through this setback.

While Freelon will miss these games, he is expected to return to the court in time for their critical matchups later in the season. Texas Tech fans are hopeful that this challenge will only make the team stronger and more unified in the face of adversity.
