In a touching tribute to the late Dickey Betts, founding member of the Allman Brothers Band, a group of former bandmates and affiliated artists known as The Brothers have announced a two-night tribute show. The performances will take place on April 15th and 16th, 2025, at New York City’s historic Madison Square Garden venue. This is a noteworthy reunion, as it comes five years after their last meeting at the same location.

These rare concerts feature original Allman Brothers Band drummer Jaimoe, as well as renowned performers Warren Haynes (guitar/vocals), Derek Trucks (guitar), Oteil Burbridge (bass), and Marc Quiñones (percussion). They’ll be accompanied by Joe Russo on drums, Reese Wynans on keyboards, Isaac Eady on percussion, and special guest Chuck Leavell on piano. This gathering of musicians is intended to honour Betts’ enduring legacy and the unmistakable impression he left on the world of Southern rock.

The choice to reconnect was heavily influenced by last fall’s SOULSHINE hurricane relief event, where Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks performed a dramatic rendition of ‘Whipping Post’, an Allman Brothers Band classic. The emotional resonance of that performance highlighted the ageless nature of their music as well as the musicians’ close friendships, inspiring them to organise this Betts tribute.

Reflecting on the approaching concert, Jaimoe, the Allman Brothers Band’s lone surviving original member, voiced his excitement: “The opportunity to play at the Garden with my pals again – FAR OUT dude! “I will see you in April!!”

In addition to the New York City concerts, plans are in the works for a European leg of the tribute, letting worldwide fans to join in recognising Betts’ immense contributions to music. While precise dates and venues for the European gigs have yet to be revealed, excitement is growing among the global fan base.

Pre-sale tickets for the Madison Square Garden concerts will be available beginning Wednesday, February 12th, at 10:00 a.m. ET, with general public sales beginning Friday, February 14th, at 10:00 a.m. ET. A percentage of the proceeds from these concerts will go towards music education, honouring Betts’ dedication to developing fresh talent.

These tribute shows honour Dickey Betts’ memory while simultaneously celebrating the Allman Brothers Band’s continuing legacy. Fans can expect heartfelt performances of favourites such as “Ramblin’ Man,” “Blue Sky,” and “Jessica,” which have formed the soundtrack to countless lives and continue to inspire musicians throughout the world.

As the dates approach, fans and musicians alike are filled with enthusiasm, anxious to pay tribute to a classic whose music spans decades.
