Throughout the season, Kendrick Perkins has loudly defended “Big Body Brunson” and the Knicks.
With the Boston Celtics, the reigning NBA champions, trailing them 2-0, Big Perk has made a daring declaration.
On “Get Up” on Thursday, he stated, “This series is over. The Celtics will be lucky to get one game.”
After their second consecutive comeback from a 20-point deficit, New York took a 2-0 lead and won Game 2 91-90.
Games 3 and 4 of the series will be played on Saturday and Monday, respectively, at Madison Square Garden.
Perkins doesn’t think the series will even return to Boston for Wednesday’s possible Game 5.
This season, the Celtics had a 33-8 road record compared to a 23-18 home record.
“This series is over, I don’t give a damn what the Celtics’ record looks like,” said Perkins, who won an NBA title with Boston in 2008.
“To begin with, are you aware of how incredible Madison Square Garden will be during Game 3? Simply because of the intensity, the Knicks players will be shooting.
You are aware that Jalen Brunson is their finest clutch player? I’m expecting Mitchell Robinson, Deuce McBride, and even Mikal Bridges to perform better at home, even if those players have been playing better away from home. Do you realize that role players actually perform better at home?
“Look, regardless of what anyone says, they now have the mental advantage over the Boston Celtics. The Celtics are finished and will not be returning to this series.
