In response to Denver Nuggets player Aaron Gordon’s criticism of his All-Star center Nikola Jokic’s repeated fouling during Game 2, Oklahoma City Thunder forward Chet Holmgren reacted. Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault made no adjustments to his defense of Jokic following Wednesday’s 149-106 thumping victory in Game 2. Two games into their best-of-seven series, though, the physicality between the two squads is still evident.
Prior to Game 3, Holmgren responded to Gordon’s remarks by implying that the Thunder are getting away with not calling fouls.
“I believe we’ve been called for fouls whenever we’ve committed one. Holmgren stated, “They have been called for fouls when they foul.” “At the end of the day, I only have one point of view out there. I am unable to watch the entire play, each and every play. I am therefore unable to comment on what is taking place in each and every play. It seems to me like a hard basketball game. The playoffs are for that reason. We simply need to be prepared for that and come out.
Aaron Gordon said the Thunder executed illegal defensive stops after losing Game 2, according to Brendan Vogt of the DNVR Nuggets.
“They’re doing all kinds of things to him that might not be legal,” Gordon remarked. You can’t do much about it. Jok will continue to play through it, but they are fouling him.
“They consistently call the second foul. Gordon came to the conclusion that Jokic was being fouled initially.
Before the Thunder’s 43-point victory on Wednesday, Jokic received his sixth foul, which led to his ejection with little over a minute remaining in the third quarter.
