I see those of you who have been with me from the start, as well as those who joined as the light began to shine. Not only is your loyalty valued, but it is a fundamental part of my journey. I’m stronger, bolder, and more motivated than ever thanks to you. I rise with you as I rise.
For me, football has always been more than a game. It has been my calling, my passion, and occasionally the thing that has kept me afloat. The individuals on this journey, however, are what really make it remarkable, not just the objectives, challenges, or awards. It’s you, the supporters who have supported me and the teams I’ve had the privilege of playing for, whether they’re wearing the white of England or the red and white of Arsenal. You have consistently served as a reminder to me that our actions on the field have an impact that extends well beyond ninety minutes.
There have been triumphant moments—the pleasure of donning the armband, the delight of hoisting trophies, and the honor of serving as my nation’s leader. However, there have also been instances of harm, heartache, and uncertainty. And you’ve been there in both. Your help gave me brightness when everything else felt heavy. Your voices helped to make the festivities unforgettable when they peaked. It’s that constant connection that keeps me going.
I bring you with me every time I take the field, to all the young girls and boys who have ever gazed upon us and thought they could pursue their own dreams. You serve as a reminder that this is a journey that transcends individual players and teams. It’s about creating a legacy of equality, opportunity, and belief in football that will endure a lifetime. And I proudly take on that obligation.
I have been formed by every struggle, but I have been lifted by every supporter. That is not something I take for granted in the slightest. I’ve become a part of your chants, placards, and encouraging words. They have given me courage, resilience, and an understanding that being a leader is about rising with everyone, not about dominating them.
I want you to know that I’m still committed to fighting for this team, this sport, and everyone who has faith in what we’re doing together as we go forward. For the benefit of all of us, not just myself, I will continue to strive, develop, and lead.
